Patrolman Randall Beane said that four accidents were reported but that officers The Flu Bug Bites Cooleemee By MARLENE BENSON The flu and its allied ailments have reached epidemic pro portions in the Cooleemee area. Eleven per cent of the school children at Cooleemee School are absent with flu. "I don't see how it could get much worse," added Dr. John Spargo, local physician, "but I'm seeing new cases every day." The doctor's office is virtually full all the time now. Mrs. Spargo, who assists him as a nurse, says the only "time she can remember when the doctor was busier was during his first year when he was making so many house calls, though he didn't see as many patients then. Everyone in the community is concerned about the Hong Kong flu we've been hearing so much about lately. It's hard to determine whether one has the Hong Kong flu or just plain flu. "That takes blood tests which are very expensive," Mrs. Spargo said. "Most people would not want this expense just to determine if it's Hong Kong flu or another kind."
